8 Miles  has mandated legal firm Weil Gotshal & Manges  to work on the fundraising of its $450m maiden fund, according to a report by Legal Week.

8 Miles is understood to have transferred to Weil Gotshal from Clifford Chance following the departure of partner Ed Gander [pictured]. He led the team that worked on the fund at Clifford Chance.

Gander is one of the four partners that left Clifford Chance for Weil Gotshal in July 2011. He is now head of Weil’s London Private Funds Group, and previously headed Clifford Chance’s Global Private Funds Group.

The other three partners that left with him are Nick Benson, Nigel Clark and Jonathan Kandel. The quartet was drafted into the European Fund Formation group.

8 Miles recently reached a $200million first close on its maiden fund, and has another $250 to raise before its reaches its  targeted $450million.
