Carlyle appoints Macmillan as EMEA principal

Carlyle has selected Rory Macmillan as principal for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) in a bid to expand its footprint in high-growth emerging markets.

Based in London, he has been charged with boosting public relations and communications with stakeholders, investors and Carlyle portfolio companies.

Macmillan joins from Nike, where he was the director of government and public affairs across the EMEA region. Prior to joining Nike he held several senior positions within government relations and communications. Macmillan also previously worked for L’Oreal.

Macmillan’s appointment follows Carlyle’s recent hiring of Daniel Jordaan from Ethos Private Equity, and Marlon Chigwende from Standard Chartered. The duo is heading up Carlyle’s private equity strategy in Sub Saharan Africa (SSA).

Genevieve Sangudi, from Emerging Capital Partners, has also joined the Sub Saharan Africa SSA group as partner.
